Built in the early 19th century, the largest fortress in the Americas, Citadelle Laferrière, is designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Outfitted with 365 cannons, some of the original enormous stockpile of cannonballs can still be found in different corners of the Citadelle today.
